Took a trip on a whim to Death Valley with a new friend, Brian. We heard so much of the Super Bloom this year (and I also felt bad for ruining his original plan to go by convincing him to meet me in Joshua Tree instead) that we just had to go. We took the van on the mini excursion, brought his dog Stella with us and went all over the park, including on a crazy OHV road through Titus Canyon. Hey, the signs said “4X4 Recommended” not “Required” and I had just bought some new Cooper tires that I just had to put to the test. Don’t worry guys, I had a tow strap just in case but thankfully we didn’t need to use it.

Here’s a video below recounting the trip. #SuperBloom2016!!

As the famous Death Valley mansion, Scotty’s Castle is a crazy example of the wealth that came to settle in this barren desert.

The moving rocks and Super Bloom may be what initially drew me in to spend a weekend in Death Valley, but the entire park is so vast and filled with diverse scenery that I was blown away at every turn.
